Our story

Born from the grassroots, built by young Africans

YAPD4Africa was founded in 2017 by a group of passionate young Africans who believed in the power of youth-led initiatives to address pressing social challenges. What began as a small network of volunteers has grown into a prominent organization with programs in multiple African countries.

Our founders recognized that despite Africa being the continent with the youngest population, young people were often excluded from development processes and decision-making. They established YAPD4Africa to bridge this gap, creating platforms for youth leadership and meaningful participation in community development.

Officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in 2024 and headquartered in Kaduna, YAPD4Africa now runs programs in Nigeria and Cameroon, with expansion underway in Ghana and Kenya.

2017
YAPD4Africa is founded by a group of passionate young Africans.
2018
The We Need Peace campaign engages leaders ahead of the 2019 elections.
2019
Launch of the Community Action-Led Initiative (CAL), our flagship program.
2020
Rescue Mission against COVID-19 supports 500 vulnerable people.
2021
Our Board of Trustees starts steering the organization.
2023
After our advocacy, a national commission for Almajiri and out-of-school children is signed into law.
2024
Official registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission, Murya needs assessment in Gwaraji Ward, clean water restored in Joga, and CAL named a Top 15 finalist in Germany.
2025
LAW Project and NaijaAdvocate Fellowship, CAL finalist in China, launch of yapd4africa.org and 8 years of impact.
2026
Expanding LAW and NaijaAdvocate, and launching the Kuri'a AI Monitor ahead of the 2027 elections.
